You jive with some people. And then others … not s’much. It would be nice to trust everyone you spend the day around, but that just ain’t gonna happen. What IS it that is sending you the message about whether you are trusting someone or not?
Thinking that everyone around you would save your life if you were caught in a burning building is shooting too high. Lower you expectations of people. I know – Sounds pessimistic, but think about it. People you work with just need to be reliable, not your most trusting ally.
Certain factors are at play when we build trust with other people. You have control over some of them, and others are a function of pre-determined characteristics.
Work on some of those characteristics. Take a look at the 7 elements of trust to get to know others better. The degree to which each of these are at play are a determination as to whether trust will be high or not.
