You have trouble being heard sometimes. Are others not giving you the respect you think you should command?
What’s with that?
There are a variety of ways to give your image more immediate power:
… Listen to the voice in your head. Does it tell you when you sense something is not ideal? Or when you should be speaking up more?
… Let your voice translate into action. Don’t overthink it, just jump in and say something. That may seem risky, but the approach can be safer if you jump in with a question, such as “Are there other ways we can address this and use others’ input?”
… Being an easy-to-work-with person can be an asset. Although you may feel the need to accommodate, consider whether it is working in your favor here.
… Beef up your language. Use more direct words and eliminate the conditions like “maybe” or “sometimes” or “kinda.”
… Use silence for the heavy stuff. Rather than pushing yourself into the conversation, let it sit in the laps of others for a while and stew. They key: look comfortable with the slience. It’ll project confidence.
… for Women, this is a HOT topic. See the video for the women’s version of this.
